Step 1 – THE New Document and Background

Let’s Start by opening Photoshop and create a new document, I choose 500x500px with a transparent background. Next fill the background with white, go to Edit – Fill – White. I created this background layer so you can see the process better but you’ll need to hide the background layer when you save the brush.

Step 2 – Creating and Saving a Brush

In this tip we’ll create a soft rounded brush, select the Ellipse Tool (U) and create a perfect circle in the centre of the canvas. Change the opacity of the layer to 50%

Next duplicate the Circle layer, put the opacity back to 100% on the new layer and let’s apply a Gaussian Blur filter to it with a 50px radius.

Now we have a brush we want to use, we’re going to save it, make sure the background layer is hidden, then select all the canvas, Select – All, then to save the brush go to Edit – Define Brush Preset and name the brush like you want.

You’ll be able to use this new brush just selecting the Brush Tool (B) and selecting the new brush at the end of the brush library.

That’s it for this quick tip, I hope you’ve learned some new tricks, feel free to leave a comment and share you new brushes.
