In this Photoshop Tutorial we'll be going through steps of combining images, changing colors, especially adjusting light and shadow from different light sources to a dark and emotional photo manipulation.

Final Result Preview:

Step 1:

Open arch rock stock. I want to remove the house because i want to make the foces on castle that we will do in next steps. Use Polygonal Lasso Tool ( or any tools you're familiar with ) to make selection for the part which near the house as shown below:

Add layer mask to eraser this part:

Step 2:

Add some adjustment layers to change color and darken the pic:

Step 3:

Open castle stock. Extract it and move into our document, scale the size to fit and place it as the pic below shows:

Add Layer Mask, use soft black brush with Opacity 100% to erase its bottom to make it look like behind the highest hill, also use brush with lower opacity and flow (30-40%) to blur castle. As we see, it is set behind the foggy hill so it must get mist effect too:

Step 4:

Cut the model and place into our canvas:

Create a new layer under model layer, use black brush with small size and hardness about 40% to paint under her sabot:

As we see, the light on model and background come from different sources. Light on model from behind and to the right while light of background come from two directions: one from the top and to the left (at the hill parts) and one from in front ( arch rock part) . For this tutorial purpose, i choose light from the top and in front of model . So she should have a shadow behind. For all the rest of model, we will fix later.

Make a new layer under model layer, use soft black brush to paint the bottom part behind model, then lower Opacity to 50%:

The light to model from afar, so the further shadow the softer and blurrier. Add Layer Mask, use Soft Black Brush with Opacity about 40-50% to fade the top of shadow that toward the left:

Step 5:

Now we will make model look slimmer to get a delicate look. On model layer, choose Filter-Liquify and take Turbulence Tool with settings below:

Stretch her waist from two sides and her shoulder from the right:

If there is any blur part , make selection for these parts then apply Unsharp Mask with right parameters.

Here is my result:

Now i use Blur Tool to soften model skin. Make a new layer with Clipping Mask, use this tool to paint on model face as shown below:

Step 6:

Make a Hue/Saturation layer with Clipping Mask to reduce light and saturation:

Step 7:

I add a layer with Clipping Mask, use soft white brush to paint on model face to brighten it a bit. Set this layer to Soft light 30%:

Step 8:

I use two new layers with Clipping Mask to color lips and cheek. Take soft brush with color #fe3463 to paint on these part. With lips, i set layer to Soft light 100% and cheek 60%:

As we see, the top part of her back and arm look so bright and color does not fit the skin on the face. So i take a new layer, use color #af837a to paint on this part and put layer as Color 100%:

Take a new layer, use color #d99791 (that is picked from model cheek), to paint on the rest of model face and set it as Color 50%:

This is result we have till now:

Step 9:

I use a Hue/Saturation layer with Clipping Mask for model to remove prominent light on her. Take soft black brush with low opacity and flow 60-70% to paint on shoulders, arm, dress to make it look brighter (not underexposed):

As you see, prominent light on model disappeared.

Step 10:

Open hat stock and place it above model head, transform it to fit the head:

I add a Curves layer to make hat color fit model:

Create a layer under hat layer, use soft black brush to paint under hat to make shadow of it on model head:
